NEWPIN Awards

Since 1995, NEWPIN has won several awards including:

• The Henry Kempe Award  for its work in the prevention of child abuse in the UK in 1995.
• Children’s Week Award – this was awarded to Burnside NEWPIN members in 1999 in recognition of the help, support and care of each other’s children.
• In 1999, Burnside NEWPIN was short-listed in the Innovation Category by the Department of Family and Community Services’ National Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
• In 2000, Burnside NEWPIN was awarded the Australian Violence Prevention Award for the Prevention of Violence within the Family - conducted by the Australian Institute of Criminology.
• At the 2001 National Child Abuse Prevention Awards, The Australian council for Children and Parenting highly commended Burnside NEWPIN in the category of innovation.

Burnside NEWPIN members participated in the Marie Claire (a national women’s magazine) campaign against child abuse.  Their stories were featured in the August 2003 edition of Marie Claire Australia.
